Power Yoga

Power Yoga is based in Hatha and borrows heavily from Ashtanga and Vinyasa to create a slow controlled flow that comes into various poses. Lots of heat is developed by the body as all the core muscles are activated and the large muscles are all used to hold deep poses for long periods of time between the flowing sets. There is an emphasis on alignment, extension and muscle activation, developing your concentration, endurance, strength and flexibility. You can be guaranteed a vigorous full body workout that will raise your heartrate, get the sweat flowing and get you breathing hard while at the same time providing a deep stretch. Power Yoga is conducted in a room that is heated to 30c.

For those uninitiated into the "secrets" of Power Yoga, Bikram Yoga and Hot Yoga are both types of Power Yoga (or more realistically, all three are just different variants of Hatha Yoga). We heat the room to a comfortable temperature (around 30) and then let you generate your own extra heat, helping prevent light headedness and dehydration. By the end of the session you will be hot and sweaty, getting a great detox along with a full body workout. So keep that one in mind, Power Yoga is Hot Yoga.

Power Lunch

Power Lunch is a shortened Power Yoga class designed to be fit in the busy workday schedule of inner city workers. This is only a 40 minute class, so there is no time for teaching beginners the sequences, which means you must be at least familiar with them before you attend, or be willing to learn on the fly as we go.

Starting at 12:10 and finishing at 12:50, you should have plenty of time to get here, do Yoga, and then get back to work to have a shower and get changed.

Different Types of Power Yoga

Power Living - is a modern day physical & philosophical practice that focuses on developing a person’s spiritual well being as much as their physical and mental health. This is a very strong physical practice, with emphasis placed on looking after yourself.
Vinyasa Flow - is a smooth flowing class that embraces the concept of moving meditation.
